Review

ReAspect is a program for changing the aspect ratio of still images. This is useful if you want to make a DVD menu out of an image: as the images used in DVD menus or slideshows must meet some standard television formats (either 16:9 or 4:3), you will usually need to resize the pictures you want to use so that they fit the screen.

This program allows you to load any image in PNG, JPG, BMP, PCX, TGA, TIF, PSD/PCD, WMF, or EMF format. Then, you can choose the output format: DVD Lab Universal Size, NTSC (720x480), or PAL (720x576). As the output file can be saved in any of the supported formats, this program can also be used as an image converter. You can stick to default settings for quick resizing, or you can customize the aspect and stretch settings at your will. This way you will be choosing what part of the original image should be discarded (if any). This can be useful to crop logos or watermarks from the original picture.

The unregistered version of ReAspect will add a small watermark in the lower left part of the image.
Advantages
  • It is very simple to use.
  • It allows you to customize important settings.
Disadvantages
  • None.
